Our Story
It all started with a pickup truck full of found apples. Husband and wife Felix and Nicole Todd were searching for property when they stumbled across an abandoned apple orchard in Watsonville, Ca. Nicole, having a passion for fermenting anything she can get her hands on, insisted they use the apple crop that was clearly going to waste. The obvious outcome for this found loot was CIDER!
After making cider for a few years at home the demand grew for Nicole’s tasty libations. Nicole, being gluten intolerant, and working in the beverage industry for many years, ran with the idea of becoming a professional cider maker.
In 2013 Nicole partnered up with her sister, Natalie Henze and her family to become Santa Cruz Cider Company. Nicole went to cider school to hone her talent for cider making, her Husband, Felix, has become our “Cellar Rat”, gadget builder and go to guy for just about anything. Natalie keeps up with the books and accounts. Natalie’s Husband, Justin, is our wood worker and has been awarded the title “Apple Pickin’ SOB”. Their Son, Miles, is on his way to taking over the family business, one apple at a time.
Our Family takes great pride in the whole cider making process to bring you our delicious cider. We maintain the orchards we pick from in Santa Cruz County as well as pick, process, ferment and package all of our cider on our own. We are the true meaning of a local, Family owned and hand crafted cider.
We hope you enjoy our cider as much as we enjoy making it.
